Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
We now accept patients covered under the CDCP. Here’s what you need to know before your visit.

Section 1: What is the CDCP?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program offering dental coverage for Canadians who don’t have access to private dental insurance and meet specific income criteria. It’s not a free dental program, but it does help reduce the cost of care.
You apply online through the government portal—not through our clinic.

Section 2: Who Qualifies?
You may be eligible if:
You do not have access to dental insurance through employment, pension, or private coverage
You are a Canadian resident
You have filed your 2023 tax return
Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000/year
Eligibility Timeline
May 2024: Seniors 70+
June 2024: Ages 65–69
July 2024: Adults with disability tax credit, children under 18
2025: Remaining eligible individuals
Section 3: What’s Covered?
The CDCP helps cover the cost of:
Exams
X-rays
Cleanings (scaling)
Fluoride
Fillings and extractions
Sealants
Root canals (some)
Dentures (partial coverage)
Minor oral surgery
Please note: Some services still require preauthorization.
Section 4: What It Means for You
At Smile Health Dental, we accept patients with CDCP coverage. However, the CDCP is not always 100% free.
What to Expect
Here’s an example based on two units of cleaning:
Regular fee (ODA guide): $140.00
CDCP coverage: $134.00
Patient pays: $6.00
Important:
Each case is different. Even if your CDCP coverage says “100%,” some clinics (including ours) may bill at standard rates. This means you may still owe a small balance, depending on the treatment.
Section 5: How to Prepare for Your Visit
Apply for CDCP on the government website canada.ca/dental
